Michael Faulkner grew up in Northern Ireland but has spent most of his adult life in Scotland, initially working as a solicitor and subsequently setting up the UK’s first company to design, manufacture and retail Santa Fe-style furniture.

In 2001 Mike and his wife Lynn McGregor, a professional artist, moved to the cabin on Islandmore, Strangford Lough, his family’s summer home. Mike is the son of Brian Faulkner, the last Prime Minister of Northern Ireland.

The Blue Cabin, published in September 2006 by Blackstaff Press, is an account of the couple’s first year on Islandmore; and the follow-up, Still On The Sound (October 2009), in hardcover and with over two hundred colour photographs, explores four seasons of island life, seven years on.

Lynn McGregor is a professional artist whose semi-abstract landscapes are in numerous private and corporate collections and are exhibited extensively in Scottish and London galleries. She works from a studio at the water’s edge on Islandmore.To see more of Lynn’s work click here.
